Dear Parents and Carers,
As you may be aware, World Book Day 2020 is tomorrow. We want to take this opportunity to share with you some ideas of how we would like to celebrate at Curwen this year.
Breaking away from the tradition of previous years in which children have been encouraged to dress up as their favourite character, this year we are encouraging pupils to design and make a sandwich board (see picture above) of their favourite book, which they will then wear on World Book Day. This is an opportunity for our pupils to get creative, whilst also promoting a love of reading. For instance, the front might be a drawing, painting or collage representing the front cover of the book, and the back might contain a review and/or some favourite lines from the book. 
Please encourage your child to make their sandwich boards, remembering to act sustainably by using any recycled boxes, cardboard and old magazines and catalogues for their designs.
