New Scientist Live

Thanks to its enormous success, for the third year running, our year 4, 5 and 6  science MASt children visited schools' day at the New Scientist Live at EXCEL London. The children were exposed to a huge range of science based information, technology and careers through shows, talks, demonstrations and hands-on activities.

The children first enjoyed 'Rude Science', a show full of explosive and grotty experiments where children learnt about bodily fluids and functions. Next, they had some time to explore a wide variety of exhibits including research in farming; how to use ultrasound on animals to detect the number of young along with the similarities and differences in the foetuses; dinosaur eggs and fossil digs; fusion technology simulators; and they even had a go at eye surgery using the latest robotic technology at the hospital of the future area.

Finally, the children attended a short talk on space careers from male and female students and professors, which opened the children's minds to a huge range of careers in space beyond being an astronaut and the various routes to a chosen career.

The day was a truly fantastic dive into the world of real life science and career possibilities!"
