PE MASt Trip

On Wednesday 12th June, our year 3 and 5 MASt PE students had the opportunity to meet
Olympic athlete Christine Ohuruogu as well as participate in a variety of sports activities at UEL
Sports Dock.
The children were truly inspired by what Christine had to say about her personal experiences within
the world of elite sport and why Athletics is so important to her. The children enjoyed viewing her
Gold and Silver medals, holding the 2012 Olympic torch and getting to ask her a wide range of
questions about her life and love for sport.
In addition, the children thoroughly benefited from the sports sessions that were delivered by the
UEL and external coaches, which included: basketball, wheelchair basketball, athletics, skipping, breakdancing and seated volleyball. This was a great chance for them to showcase their talent and test their skills whilst learning and adapting to new sports.
The key message that Christine wanted to leave the children with was ‘To never give up and be
resilient’ which is a core skill that Curwen will strive to develop in all children throughout PE.
