Autumn 1

Our theme is ‘Who am I?’ Families have help to settle children into Nursery; learning to recognise their belongings and find their pictures. The children are now confident to say goodbye to their parents/carers and hello to the nursery staff. The children are exploring new environments around them and enjoying their time in Nursery.
The children are learning new words, phrases and nursery rhymes. They are very excited at Story Time and they are beginning to discover the Book Corner looking at books independently. The children have enjoyed making their monsters using media. They are discovering the marks they can make using different tools.
They enjoy moving their body to rhymes and music and discovering they can use their bodies to climb, run, jump or hold paintbrushes. the children are beginning follow the routines and tolerate one another’s needs. We are using key language, please, thank you, good morning, good afternoon, sorry, my turn, your turn and I would like… The children will have a go and enjoy showing the adults what they are doing or what they have made.
We have six steps we help our children with to build their independence.
- Recognising their picture and belongings
- Washing hands
- Using the toilet
- Blowing their nose
- Putting their coat on
- Awareness of others and themselves
We are looking forward to seeing all exciting news in Autumn 2.
