Spring 1

Our Year 6 adventurers recently braved the elements (and maybe a few spiders) on a thrilling three-day trip to Fairplay House in Essex. They conquered the high ropes like true daredevils, navigated the depths of the caves with the grace of seasoned explorers, and even took on the legendary G swing – a feat that left some teachers slightly green around the gills! These young heroes truly represented our school with spirit and grit.

Teamwork and communication were key as they tackled challenging problems, proving that two heads are indeed better than one (especially when one head is stuck on a particularly tricky equation!). Algebra has turned out the be very successful, as the children head in trickier maths of Year 6.

In Literacy, we've delved into the world of war poetry, exploring the power of words and the impact of figurative language. Our young poets were so inspired that they penned their own moving poems about WWII, focusing on the enduring power of hope. Winner of the competition will be announced soon!

Even our Art lessons took a wartime turn, as we explored the haunting work of Picasso and his masterpiece, Guernica. Students collaborated to create their own "composite" Guernica, a challenging project that required teamwork and a steady hand (and maybe a few extra rulers!).
