Curwen Primary School

No Pens Day

On Wednesday 8th January, Curwen had a No Pens Day.

Throughout the whole day, we had lessons and did activities that avoided writing. No pens or pencils were allowed! It is an initiative run by Speech and Language UK. The idea is that children put down pencils and pense to highlight the importance of talking / active listening.

This emphasises one of our Curwen Core Skills- Communication.

At Curwen, we celebrate diversity and inclusion. The day allowed us to understand that some people may find it harder than others to communicate for a number of reasons. However, as individuals and communities, we can try to communicate for a number of reasons.

However, as individuals and communities, we can try to be inclusive to help people overcome barriers when communicating. We also highlighted the importance of being patient and showing empathy to others by considering people's needs when communicating.
