Autumn 1 Update
We were very excited to learn lots of facts about our topic, the Great Fire of London. We have developed our History skills such as ordering events chronologically, analysing sources of information, and comparing past and present. We went on two trips in order to learn about the fire- first we went on a London city walk to visit London Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Pudding Lane and Monument. Then we visited Museum of London to look at lots of different sources (artefacts, models, videos) relating to the fire. We enjoyed drawing from observations in our sketchbooks on both trips. We have also been doing lots of art work using collage to represent what we have learnt in History.
In Literacy we have been continuing to work through the RML and Literacy programmes. We also worked hard to produce a non-chronological report about Curwen Primary School. We developed our descriptive language and grouped our ideas into paragraphs. We have also been developing our editing skills and working with our table partners to spot each other’s mistakes and improve our writing.
In Maths we have been doing lots of work to develop a deep understanding of place value. We have been representing numbers using concrete and pictorial methods.
