School Council Elections 2018
With another school year starting children from Year 2 through to Year 6 had the opportunity to run for the School Council. 136 children ran for the School Council this year with almost 100 children attending the lunchtime workshops to work on their campaign policies, make posters and write speeches. Staff were on hand to offer their support and advise to the candidates but the children found their most valuable resource was each other. Children from different year groups helped one another with their ideas and campaigns and former school counsellors came along to offer their help as well.
Children displayed their posters in their classrooms and around the school as part of their campaigns.
Some Year 5 candidates paid Year 2 a visit to tell them about the work Curwen’s School Council does and to share examples of speeches.
