Autumn 2

This Half Term, Your Child Has Been Exploring...

History:

This half term, we've embarked on a fascinating journey through World War 2. We've delved into the reasons behind this global conflict, exploring how propaganda was used by both sides to influence public opinion. We've even drawn connections between the propaganda techniques used during World War 2 and those employed in Elizabethan times and even today! This has helped your child understand how history repeats itself and how important it is to be critical consumers of information. Watch out for Chislehurst Cave next term to experience what an air-raid shelter was like!

Literacy:

Our class has been captivated by some incredible stories this half term! In 6W, they've been digging deep into "Holes," while 6A has been thrilling to the adventures of "The Night Bus Hero." In 6K, the poignant "A Monster Calls" has sparked some powerful discussions, and 6C has been battling alongside the courageous characters in "The Hunger Games." Through daily reading and lively discussions, your child has developed strong reading comprehension skills and a deeper appreciation for the power of storytelling.

Maths:

We've been diving headfirst into the world of fractions, decimals, and percentages! Your child has been exploring different ways to represent these concepts and learning how to confidently convert between them. We've been applying the Curwen core skills to tackle some challenging problems, building your child's problem-solving abilities and mathematical confidence.
